The only problem with it used to be that you had to know how the song goes to sing it--but now, with the internet, you can find then online so you can sing all of them! There are guitar chords for accompanying--or if you can use a piano fake book you can play along on the piano. I've never seen a better collection of folk music.

Kudos to Daniel Glass and Drum Channel for making this its own release and not relegating it to the 'special features' on the Century Project discs. If you have any interest in vintage drums, or interest in the evolution of how drums were made, whatever this DVD costs you will be worth it. The multitude of examples of vintage gear (including gorgeous close-ups), explanations of how things were assembled and how they worked (or didn't work quite right, in some cases), and deep context for why and when some technologies were introduced make this disc a goldmine of information.

Is it instructional? No. But you should know that from looking at the case. Is it educational? Absolutely. The evolution of what eventually became the drumset in the late 19th and early 20th centuries is a fascinating story, and what you get with this 2-disc set is that history told through the drums, cymbals, and hardware across the decades.

Magnum Air Force Rescue Knife Review

I originally bought this knife as a display knife to reflect my career in the Air Force as a Rescue Firefighter, but when I got the knife I figured I would put it through its paces and write a review on it as the other reviewer did not have any actual handling of the knife yet. This should help you decide.

The knife comes in an attractive storage tin and feels solid and well balanced. The Air Force logo is detailed enough that it doesn't look cheap. The picture does not do the knife justice as the blue compliments the black beautifully that is of better than average quality. Opening the blade is easy with one thumb and a flick. There is a locking mechanism to hold the main blade open, but I had to coax the blade far enough to lock.

Both the folding blade and the rescue strap-cutting blade come sharp and ready to go, but don't use the point of the folding blade to stab anything that you would normally do with a Tanto blade (Sheet metal, dashboards, cans, etc.), the blade design was never meant for that purpose. The breaker awl tip at the end of the handle is also sharp, so if this knife is going to be used as a rescue knife, break it in properly so the tip is more blunt without a bent tip before its first use.

Peavey Presents, Play It All Acoustic Guitar Beginner Review

It's been over 2 years since my original review. The review is still valid for this DVD (see below). However, the DVD is like sugar water and will only get you so far before you need to grow. So, consider this DVD as the first baby step to a lifelong process of learning and enjoyment. It is a good 1rst step. I found it takes years to learn to play well. But if you stick to it, and overcome the plateaus, you will amaze yourself with how good you can learn to play: and how enjoyable it is...

Also, a tip. If you are serious about learning, buy a good quality guitar for starters. You can save ALLOT of money and buy a used Martin or Taylor guitar, but make sure you have a friend who is an expert check it out before you buy it. A good guitar will keep you interested. A cheap guitar will make sure you lose interest fast.

This is the best guitar tutorial I have ever used. Peroid. It's actually enjoyable.

I've been trying to play on and off for the past 35 years. I have always given up hope. One tutorial wants you to learn advanced music theory and you never get to why: I got bored and gave up.

Private lessons usually leads to a sleaze type trying to make more money so they progress you as slow as possible. On top of that, you must watch their ego while they show off what they know; never teaching you the inside scope of what they are doing.

John McCarthy is the guitarist on this DVD. He has a great personality, is an excellent guitarist, and presents usable knowledge about how to play.

What to expect...
1. No music theory, get a book for that
2. Nothing offensive at all, just a great mixture of soft blues, soft folk, soft rock, light reggae, very light jazz, very light funk.
3. Accessible lessons that will not leave you feeling left out. But do the work!

Now, for a word of caution...
There are no short cuts. Watching a DVD is easy, it takes no talent and less then an hour. Mastering the lessons on this DVD will take weeks of practice. It's all about building muscle memory, dexterity, and skill. Don't buy any books or DVD's if you do not want to spend the time, experience the frustration, and invest in learning: There really are no short cuts. However, you'll start to smile as you begin to see yourself making music: for me, the first time in my 49 years of life.

If you can't afford the DVD, you can always buy it used, get it at the library, or go to YouTube and see other lessons. If you can afford this DVD, and you have a few weeks, I can't recommend this DVD more highly.
