I was in the market for a good portable music stand that wasn't going to break within the first few weeks of use, and I was willing to pay a little more for one than I had in the past. The K&M Heavy Duty Music Stand didn't break the bank, and the construction is sturdy. As a trombonist who does most of her playing in a standing position, I always had a problem finding a folding stand that raised high enough for me to keep a good posture and look at my music at the same time. This stand actually raises higher than I usually need - a convenient "problem" to have. In addition, the black finish makes the stand more professional-looking at gigs; no bright colors or even silver to make it obvious that it's folding model. The wide base makes it quite stable, and the desk is a great size for dealing with the various dimensions of full-sized music that I come across. I can tell that, with care, I'll be relying on this stand for a good while to come. I'd recommend it for any musician who needs a good stand on the go.

Rhythm Band 8-Note Bell Songs Book Review

This song book is for use with harpsichords and handbells. The harpsichord cues are at the top of the staff and easy to see. The handbell cues are under the staff and it's harder to read them because they're cluttered with the notes. Also, this book is NOT color-coded to go along with the colored handbells. I had to go in with a colored pencil and put the correct colored dot next to each note. Many of the songs are not familiar, but there are old favorites such as Kum By Ya, Jingle Bells, Twinkle Twinkle Little Star, etc. I gave my 7-year-old nephew this book along with the colored handbells and he did very well right off the bat, but only because I took the time to color-code the book myself. Buyer beware.

It's small and easy to move around. It works well with decent volume. A couple turns at a slower setting will more than last through a piece, even for a beginner such as myself, and it winds down quickly when dropped to the fastest setting. If you want an inexpensive metronome and prefer a mechanical clack to a digital beep, this is a good value.
My only gripe is the actual color is much lighter than the picture and reminds me of the puke color of computer cases in the late '80s. I wish I'd chosen a different color, but it is a minor issue.

I got these for my studio monitors. They do good things for my small room.

I also started using them on my other bookshelf speakers, just to see how much they impacted lower end speakers. I have to say, for anyone in a med-small room that is thinking about a speaker upgrade, get these first! Also get your speakers at least 12" away from a wall or 24" away from a corner. Place as far apart as possible, and have each angled 60 off the center point of where you will be listening.

Do this and medium to low end speakers can carry you far. In fact further than high end speakers without isolation and proper positioning.

This is an excellent DVD to get your youngster (6-10 years old...mine is starting at 5) started on the drums. Do not go out and purchase an expensive drum set. Buy some sticks and a practice pad. The "Zuchini Brothers" have engaging and outgoing personalities that kids love. The lessos start very basic, and are best done with short segments, practice inbetween, and lots of rewards (kids love stickers). Keep a notebook with lots of praise. When your child completes the lessons, and has a real love for drums, it may be time to purchase that first piece, or junior set. Lots of silly faces, expressions, and laughter, all while a 3 piece talented band plays catchy tunes that kids love. "You are what you eat" and other such songs keep your child's interest. A great job done by the producers.
