Mini Bass Mandolin Banjo Ukulele Chord Stamp (5 Frets) Rubber Stamp Review

This stamp is top quality. It is a wooden block, with sponge under rubber, and then the rubber pink stamp itself. My wife is a cardmaker/stamper, and she reviewed this stamp and said that it's well made.

It is small. It will make a tiny tablature grid imprint that could fit above bars of sheet music. Good that way.

If you are, like me, just stamping onto an index card to write some chords so that you can remember tabs to a song, well, I wish it was a tad bigger.

In addition, for the price, it is a small stamp. My wife has many intricate rubber cardmaking stamps this size or bigger that cost half as much as this uke tab stamp.

That said, I think it's the only one around. Someone might consider making one that is with more than one grid per stamp...like size 5x8 to fit on a 6x9 large index card, and on it have 4 rows of four grids each. When doing this with this tiny single stamp, they get all crooked and stuff. Thanks

Product Description

Mark OConnor, arguably the greatest and most famous fiddler of all time, is an American original in every way. Currently at the pinnacle of his remarkable career, Mark has created a new American School of Violin Playing that promises to quickly take its place among the great works of violin pedagogy. While utilizing classic methods of violin technique and theory, the Mark OConnor Violin Method boldly adds uniquely American elements such as jazz, Latin, rock, folk, ragtime and improvisation. This eventual 10-book series for teachers and students assures success by taking an orderly and gradual approach using appealing and memorable tunes. Each volume seeks to instill a deep appreciation of Americas musical history with background stories of all those that contributed to this rich heritage: Immigrants, African-American slaves, soldiers all contributed mightily to what has become the new American Classical Music. But simply creating fine players is not the goal of this method. Like any great movement, the Mark OConnor Violin Method seeks a loftier goal: That young people everywhere will fall in love with playing music.Currently, the Mark OConnor Violin Method includes Volumes 1 and 2, including CDs with Mark playing all tunes. The CDs also contain piano accompaniment tracks. Piano accompaniment books for Volumes 1 and 2 also available now. Volumes 3-10 are in the works, as are volumes for viola, cello, double bass and string orchestra. The O'Connor Violin Method employs classic violin technique and theory to teach students to become skilled violinists. But more than that, the O'Connor Violin Method uses familiar traditional American music to engage and motivate the young student. The lavishly illustrated books focus on well known traditional American tunes such as Oh! Susanna, Amazing Grace, Appalachia Waltz and Soldier's Joy. The method seeks to instill a deep appreciation of America's musical history with background stories of all those that contributed to this ri

O'Connor Violin Method Book I and CD Review

OConnor presents fiddling in an easy step by step process. It is a fun way for students to learn the violin. Historical information about the fiddle pieces are also included with each song. My son and daughter have both enjoyed this book as a supplement to their classical violin method books.

Master Key Chromatic Pitch Pipe

Kratt MK1 Master Key Chromatic Pitch Pipe (F to F) Review

After purchasing and returning a Kratt Master Key pitch pipe from a local music store for being too sharp, I decided to try my luck on-line. This pitch pipe was half the price (not including shipping) and was accurate enough for my a cappella group to use on stage. Purchase price + shipping is 2/3 of the price of local music stores. I recieved this item much sooner than I expected, as well... I have no problem recommending this seller.

Encore LED Music Stand Light

Mighty Bright 54910 LED Music Light Review

I have had a Mighty Bright Hammerhead LED light in my car for reading, etc.; I have been very pleased with it, and actually was looking for additional Hammerheads when I found the Encore. I bought the larger Orchestra light for a gift for a musician, but decided this smaller unit would be a great light for myself. I now use the Encore lamp every day for reading; it is very effective and fully directional, so it does not disturb my husband, nor does it glare harshly on the page. The light is cast evenly across the page, blue white, and the flexible arm/neck is easy to adjust.
I also bought the Mighty Bright light cradle, which is very compact and lightweight, yet manages to balance the Encore light quite effectively. It is easy to attach and remove, in case I wish to use the clamp feature.
I had been using battery lamps; I've had little satisfaction with rechargeable units, and hated using disposable batteries. The AC adapter with 13 foot power cord is lightweight and easy to use, running through narrow space in furnishings. The light is also battery capable. The light comes in a nicely made zippered canvas case, with a carrying pouch for the AC adapter.
If you are looking for a light for a music stand, I do think this would be terrific, casting the light only on the page, not into the musician's eyes or into the audience. The light intensity is perfect, not too bright, but fully illuminating the pages. For stage use, the batteries would be great, and the AC for practice at home. The unit does not charge the batteries, so either a separate charger would be needed, or use disposables.
One note: if you are working with several sheets of music simultaneously, the larger Mighty Bright Orchestra light may be more appropriate. Other than a larger size, the features of the Orchestra light and the Encore are identical.

Get Funky and Musical Fun Review

We have had a lot of fun with this CD. We originally checked it out of the local library and liked it so much that we purchased it. All of the songs are original. Some are better than others, but most are really fun and a nice change from some of the standard kid dance songs (e.g. YMCA, Head Shoulders Knees and Toes, Hokey Pokey). Most of the songs work just as well for only one or two kids as they do for a large group. It might be a lot of fun to use this CD as an ice breaker activity at a birthday party. Definitely recommended!
