This lyre is wretchedly incapable of holding anything but the lightest of flipbooks and is prone to bending, deforming, and the most unexpected failure was the threads stripped off the screw when I adjusted it mid-set!

DEG Trumpet Marching Lyre Review

I have a nice trumpet that does not include a bracket for dropping in a standard trumpet lyre. I didn't want a lyre that clamps on to the tuning slide, either. (The ones that you tighten with a thumb screw are awful, FYI.) So I bought one of these on a friend's recommendation.

It works very well. The lyre is very secure once it's clamped on to the bell, and it can hold lots of pieces of music. My only criticisms are:

1) It's rather heavy compared to a regular lyre, and
2) It requires care to keep from scratching the bell of the trumpet with it, even though its clamps are rubber-coated.

Overall, I'm quite pleased with this lyre. It's not perfect, but it's better than any of the alternatives.

I got these for concerts since they supposedly keep frequency response flat. However, that wasn't the case; I'd say that they cut 2x more into the treble than the mid/bass frequency range. Intuitively this is what you'd expect from ear plugs, but since they are advertised as preserving sound quality I view it as a negative.

Other than that they fit great and do a great job reducing noise.

Hamilton Encore Orchestra Stand, Single Pack Review

I purchased this for my home studio, wanting a stand that would adjust easily for my students of varying heights. This one fits the bill. It adjusts up and down by just a push or a pull. It's tight enough (so far) that it doesn't "sink" if a student puts heavy music on it. It's also steel so if I need to secure music or other things to it with a magnet, I can.

Since we have wood flooring in the room where this stand is used, I also bought some floor protectors. (Musician's Friend sells a set of 3 for less than $2). If you're worried about marking up your floors, then I highly recommend the floor protectors.
