The one bad review totally sounds like a review posted by someone working for Vocal-Eze's competition. I'm not sure how something of this nature could give you a sore throat. Me and my lead singer use it constantly and he SMOKES!! (which drives me nuts). Usually, I might do one spray at the beginning of a gig to keep things loose. But, when I have a cold or sore throat I'll use a couple sprays between songs. It's a life saver. He uses it after every smoke break.... 8-|

And the taste...if you don't like honey then you won't like the taste. Otherwise I wouldn't describe honey as "nasty" unless I worked for the competition.

That being said, I've never bought the product off Amazon, I'm just passing through finding a vendor to buy it from. We usually get it at Guitar Center, but I don't feel like driving across town to pick it up. And, after reading that review with two plugs for another product I figured I should leave a good, accurate review.
