If I ever meet Barbara Barber again I'm going to kiss her feet while thanking her profusely. The last time I met her, many moons ago, she had not yet published this series, which is wonderful. Most of the fingerings are just what I want them to be, the selections are varied and not boring, its just a wonderful series. She's something big in the Suzuki America thing, I believe, and Suzuki is a great violin method, but suffers because American students don't have Japanese mothers. This series helps us expand the students' répertoire without having to bore them to death and without having to move them along faster than they should go.
I suppose I should mention, I am the violin teacher.

Alfred's Basic Piano Prep Course: Activity & Ear Training Book A Review

Not sure why on earth its so hard to locate this book on Amazon at "Level A" when it can be fairly easily found at the higher difficulties. However, it it definitely worth getting this book along with the Theory book for Alfred's Basic Piano Prep Course if you have a young beginning piano student. Some of the activities are similar to those in the more common Theory book. However they are still fun and different enough that it keeps kids (at least my kid!) from getting bored while concepts (fingering, key grouping, etc) are being re-enforced. Plus, there are activities here such as pattern recognition exercises that don't exist at all in the Theory book. Since this book is essentially a workbook, make sure to buy this new (or at least unmarked) along with a box of crayons.

Castiv - Tab Station Adjustable Tablet Holder for Microphone Stand Review

I just received my Tab Station and used it on a gig last night. I am using it to hold a Toshiba Thrive to display lyrics and lead sheets. It grips the tablet well with no slippage in any position. The mount system is very flexible and I was able to position the tablet on the end of a microphone stand exactly as I needed. The unit is very light and the plastic mount system feels a bit too light for regular gigging. I question whether it will hold up. Time will tell and I hope to have the opportunity to write a follow-up after putting it to the test. 4 out of 5 stars for the fragile feeling mount system.
