I just got a basic $100 ukulele (the Luna concert size Tattoo) and the gigbag with which it came left a lot to be desired. It was very thin, floppy, and only really acted as a dust-cover. Since I plan on hauling this thing around with me, I figured I could use a bit more padding, so I thought I'd give Kaces at shot.

The difference is astounding. From fit to finish this Kaces bag is top-notch. My uke fits snug but not tight, there is more than ample back, side, and front padding, and the outer nylon is tough and will more than likely withstand considerable abuse. The zippers are smooth, with nice-sized holders and when fully unzipped offer a very wide opening, so there's no need to try and wiggle or maneuver your uke into the case.

The handle is also nicely crafted. The center strap is double-sewn to the case upper nylon covering, so there isn't any pinching of the padding inside, and it's run through a tough, molded plastic grip which allows for far more comfortable carrying.

And for the size and amount of padding, the case is surprisingly light.

However, there are two points that other reviews mentioned, but which both bear mention again: First, this only has a single shoulder-strap. And while it is adjustable, it isn't quite long enough to wear slung diagonally across the body (unless you're quite tiny). The strap is also sewn to the case at about the point where the neck meets the body of the uke, so it is pretty low. There are small rings at the top an bottom of the case you can use to clip a larger strap, or double straps, however, since the existing strap is sewn in, it just sort of stays there, like an unwanted party guest. The second gripe is the front pocket is actually considerably smaller than it seems at first glance. The tapering at the top removes a lot of possible volume, and the pocket itself doesn't expand to allow for much bulk. A spare set of strings and an electric tuner strains the limit of it's carrying capacity.

It would have been nice if the pocket was large enough to accommodate strings, tuner, and perhaps a small songbook or so, and if the shoulder strap were a bit larger and more ergonomically designed. But those two points aside, this is a remarkable case. I wouldn't hesitate to use it for an ukulele that costs over $500.
